Strawberry Creek originates in Strawberry and Blackberry Canyons above the University of California Berkeley. The upper part of the creek has north and south forks which meet at the west end of campus. The creek continues through the city of Berkeley in a culvert and eventually drains into the Sanf rancisco Bay. Strawberry Creek lies in an urban setting; its water quality is affected by the activities of both the campus and the surrounding community.
Although the creek has been restored on the UC Berkeley Campus, studies have show that the north fork still has pollution problems. Most of these problems are the result of nonpoint sources, such as runoff from roadways and other impervious surfaces on the more highly urbanized north side of campus.
